Movie - Lady Jane (1986)

A drama that follows a conspiracy that matches Lady Jane Grey (Helena Bonham Carter) with Lord Guilford Dudley (Cary Elwes) with the thought of controlling them both. When the two fall in love, they are determined to be strong and then they become privy to the knowledge that on King Edwards death bed he was convinced to Will the crown to Cousin Jane and her new husband. Queen Jane was unwilling at first until Guilford pointed out how much good could be done with the Crown in the right hands. The rein of Queen Jane lasted only nine days, the true heir, Princess Mary, the daughter of King Henry, finally was able to take her crown and imprisoned Jane and Guilford.

This is a 1986 movie that is rated PG-13, it does have violence and some nudity. This is a period piece that will never go out of style. This time in England's history is something that I know little about. I am sure some of the story is based in truth, but I loved Lady Jane. Her generosity and intelligence seemed out of place in that time while Guilford started out as a drunkard, then turned out that he had character, and strength of his own. This movie was well made with fabulous costumes and scenery, the site of Cary Elwes and Patrick Stewart so young was fun. This movie made me laugh and this movie made me cry more than I should admit. "The soul takes flight to a world that is invisible, but there arriving she is sure of bliss, and forever dwells in paradise."
